DSST Information

DSST Exams (formerly DANTES)

The DSST is a credit-by examination process which gives students an opportunity to receive college credit for prior learning experience. All DSST exams are computer based with the exception of Principles of Public Speaking which is not offered at MTSU. For a list of offered exams, visit the DSST web site.

Test Dates

DSST tests are administered Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.  Please call MTSU Testing Services at 615-898-2863 to set up an appointment.

To Register (required)

Online: 

1. Pay your proctoring fee at registerblast.com/mtsu (this pays the MTSU fee per test)
   Print your “receipt” it is required in PRINTED form on test date.
   
2. Create a DSST account at getcollegecredit.com (if you cannot create your account you may do so in the test center)
   
3. Call Testing Services at 615-898-2863 to make an appointment.

In Person

Keathley University Center, room 107

Before taking the DSST at MTSU you need to complete all items on the check list

1. Pay the $30 proctoring fee on “RegisterBlast” (see step 3).
   
2. Schedule an appointment – Call 615-898-2863.
   
3. Visit Parking Services website (pay for visitor’s pass, if needed).
   
4. Bring proper identification and a credit card (for DSST testing fee).
   
5. Meet with your advisor to ensure the test meets degree requirements.

Fees.

• Contact DSST for exam pricing.
• The exam fee is paid to DSST via online payment with credit or debit card. Bring your card to the test.
• The test administration fee of $33.50 is paid online via credit or debit card at https://www2.registerblast.com/MTSU/Exam/List.
• This fee is nonrefundable; missed tests may be rescheduled.

Students who wish to have their score reports automatically sent to MTSU need to enter the college code, 8829, at the time of testing.

Identification

Current & valid picture ID: driver’s license, passport, or picture MTSU student identification card.

Test Preparation

Preparation for the exam is recommended. Practice exams and study guides can be found on the DSST web site.

Parking

On campus parking requires a permit. Please visit the MTSU Parking Services website for details.

The test center is located in the Keathly University Center room 108 (enter 107). Use 1524 Military Memorial for your GPS.
